‘Deep roots’ is a phrase frequently used in the political industry, but it’s never more applicable than in the case of Jim Ryan. A former State Representative from Redford Township and Dearborn Heights, Jim hails from a family that possesses an impressive legacy in the arena of public service and has left a significant footprint on Michigan’s political and judicial landscapes. Jim’s brother and sister serve on the Circuit Court and Probate Court benches, respectively, and his father, James L. Ryan, was a member of the Michigan Supreme Court and the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Jim is an extraordinarily accurate political prognosticator. His finger is pressed firmly on the pulse of local and state-level elected and appointed officials and the issues that drive them, particularly in Southeast Michigan. His decades of experience and long-lasting relationships with the major players of Wayne and Oakland County uniquely position Jim as an outstanding advocate both locally and at the state-level.
In addition to serving as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, Jim was the Deputy Director of Governor John Engler’s Executive Office where he served as the primary liaison between the Governor and the elected and non-elected officials in Southeast Michigan. These many integral executive roles, combined with his focus on cultivating firm and trusted relationships with key state leaders and decision makers, define Jim’s reputation as a top tier, skilled and dedicated lobbyist.
Jim joined PAA in 2002, and when not under the stately dome of Michigan’s Capitol, Jim can likely be spotted on one of Michigan’s premier golf courses with his sons, Sean and Jimmy, or on his pontoon boat near his home in Brighton enjoying Michigan’s unparalleled outdoor beauty.
